Let me take your hand and lead you
Allow me to show you
How you can write
For it is in poetry, writing poetry, that we are made whole
Laura Simoes
Conceptualization in poetry writing stems from a myriad of thought provoking words and phrases, that in unison, seek to be creative and flow into an embryonic state we call “poetry”.
The rudimentary formation of poetry must occur in the mind, where thought processes mingle and intertwine, where imagination dwells and where knowledge is in abundance. Allowing this knowledge to flow freely is most crucial to embark on the concept of writing poetry. The mind must encounter a thought-provoking scenario, in its dormant state, and thrive on such process to the extent of saturation. It is imperative to recognize that obstacles, like tentacles, will merge such saturation. Such a merger can produce clouds of uncertainty and ambiguous empty spaces, with no desire to free oneself . In such a situation, one is caught in a web of words, alphabets and rhymes …woven into a jigsaw puzzle. Conceptualization detours to captivity. The mind is thrown in a state of frenzy … there is no beginning, there is no end.
Caught in a state of oblivion, one battles towards the course of freedom … to allow the formation of a poem. Using the basic tools of a pen and paper appears to be the most illustrious way out. Allowing the pen to flow freely brings the mind to a harmonious, orderly state. As words, phrases and thoughts are penned, the mind diverts into a pattern and the puzzle starts to observe some shape and form of poetry. Creativity is at its zenith.
With adrenaline at its peak, the time is opportune to take advantage. Let your imagination conjure the best in you; find a place that is quiet and let your thoughts flow freely. This is your time … the opportune time … don’t let go of it, even if it holds your momentum for a few minutes. Release that pent up emotion, rekindle your energy, unleash your imagination … allow the artistic you to succumb to your writing. It is crucial, at this stage, to revise your work several times until it reaches perfection.
Your mind finally moves to an elevated height having brought your poem to fruition … now is the auspicious moment to reward yourself for your writing accomplishments. Set aside your thoughts, drink that delicious brew and pace yourself to a state of relaxation.
As you practice this exercise often, you will observe yourself excelling at the thinking stage. This is the most creative and challenging part of your assignment. The frequency of your practice will make the next task easier.
It is indeed magical to experience the concept and writing of poetry. As individuals, we are truly blessed with the ability and destiny of creativity in writing. Some leave it dormant, while others fulfill their desire to capture its beauty. Yes, there is that unspoken splendor in holding an audience captive with one’s poetry. There is humor, passion and a true sense of accomplishment for a task well done. The reward is infinite.
So, dear friend, continue to refine your writing and condition your mind to a state of impregnation … your work will be a triumph, an ecstasy and a poetic celebration.
